Early Life
Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu was born and raised in the heart of Agege, Lagos State. Growing up in a close-knit community shaped by trade, diversity, and resilience, he developed an early understanding of the challenges and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians. His family background in community leadership planted the seeds of a deep sense of public duty that would define his career.
Education
He attended Government Secondary School, Agege, where he distinguished himself academically and in student leadership. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos, graduating with honours. He subsequently completed an Executive Programme in Public Administration and Governance at the Lagos Business School and participated in international leadership seminars in Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Political Career
Chairman Idowu's entry into formal politics followed years of grassroots community engagement. He served as a ward councillor, then as a special adviser on community affairs to the Lagos State government, building relationships and policy expertise across multiple governance levels. He became widely known for his ability to bridge the gap between government institutions and the people they serve, earning cross-party and civic respect before his election as LGA chairman.
Current Role
As Executive Chairman of Orile Agege Local Government Area, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu leads an administration of over 200 staff members, stewards a development budget covering five wards, and oversees key initiatives in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and community security. His term began in 2025 and is defined by a commitment to measurable progress, open governance, and the dignity of every Agege resident.
